Background
Every year we give our brokers the opportunity to nominate a charity they believe deserves the money the most. Our Directors then choose three charities from those nominated and during our Annual Conference we give each broker a token for them to place against one of the three charities. This is how we decided the percentage given to each charity.
How we raised the money
For every deal that went live between May 2019 and April 2020 AFS (UK) Ltd put £1 in the charity pot. We would like to give a huge ‘thank you’ to Wesleyan Bank for generously donating £2,500 into the pot. We also raised £450 from our annual golf day and £26.90 from selling pick and mix at the head office.
Charities we are donating to:
Alzheimer’s Society, nominated by Andrew Pearce, Kathryn Dimmack and Neil Smith, will receive £2,909.63 (31% of the total)
“We are the only UK charity investing in research into dementia care, cause, cure and prevention. We’ve committed to spending £150 million on cutting-edge research over the next decade. Every project we fund directly addresses the needs and concerns of people affected by dementia.”
British Heart Foundation, nominated by Steve Parkes, will receive £2,346.48 (25% of the total)
“Our vision is a world free from the fear of heart and circulatory diseases. We raise money to research cures and treatments, so we can beat heartbreak forever.”
SANDS (Stillborn and neonatal death charity), nominated by Sarah and Matt Arundale, will receive £4,129.80 (44% of the total)
Sands is the stillbirth and neonatal death charity. “We operate throughout the UK, supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby, working to improve the care bereaved parents receive, and promoting research to reduce the loss of babies’ lives”
Finally, ‘thank you’ to our network of brokers who all work extremely hard!
